Nick Kravariotis, the founder of the company, made an immediate impact in the industry when he supplied his first ship in 1974. His primary focus of putting the customer first brought on much praise from the shipping community. He quickly gained the trust and confidence of every ship owner with his dedication, as they truly believed they had one of their own in Vancouver.
Nick’s hard work and dedication proved to be an instant formula for success as his clientele rapidly increased. Within a few years of the first supply, United bought the current 20,000 sf warehouse on Franklin Street and the business has never looked back. A 10,000 sf warehouse was soon added.
Steven, the eldest of Nick’s son, started getting involved in the business at an early age. From the beginning, his devotion and determination, along with his background in economics, enabled him to understand the essence of the business. At the same time, he worked beside Nick incorporating his own vision of the business.
Following in his brother’s footsteps, Tom also joined the company at an early age. With his innovative approach to business, he has introduced ideas that guarantee United’s place in the evolving ship supply industry. By incorporating the knowledge gained by his father and brother, Tom is building United’s reputation as a dependable provider of good value and quality products to ships.
